For over five generations, the Stansley family has built a legacy rooted in activity—transportation, material processing, and waste-to-value innovation. What began as a single trucking operation has evolved into a diversified network of companies leading the way in sustainable materials management and circular solutions.
Our story begins in 1959, when Richard Stansley Sr. acquired the Sylvester Material Company from Francis Sylvester, marking the start of the family’s journey in the transportation industry. As the interstate highway system expanded across America, so too did the company—hauling, moving, and supplying the raw materials that fueled progress.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the Stansleys deepened their roots in material transport, branching into specialty aggregates and laying the groundwork for a broader materials enterprise. By 1975, the family had officially established operations in the Silica District of Sylvania Township—a region with a rich glassmaking and industrial heritage that would foreshadow the company’s future in recycling and material innovation.
The late 1970s and 1980s witnessed a significant expansion into construction aggregates and mining, as the third generation began steering the business toward greater diversification. In the 1990s, the Stansleys entered the ready-mix concrete industry, and by 2001, they expanded again into concrete block manufacturing, further reinforcing their commitment to building materials and infrastructure.
Then came a pivotal shift. In 2006, recognizing the growing need for sustainability and resource recovery, the family turned its attention toward waste-to-value innovation. By 2013, advancements in glass processing technology opened a new opportunity—one that aligned perfectly with their deep experience in materials, logistics, and efficiency. The Stansleys stepped in with a vision: to transform waste glass into valuable cullet, offering a science-based, high-quality cullet product.
Since then, we’ve become one of the top U.S. cullet producers by volume in the glass recycling industry—a testament to decades of hard work, innovation, and a deep understanding of material science and supply chain management.
